Dear Mr. Vassallo:
By letter dated October 10,1985, Carolina Power & Light Company (CP&L) responded to six NRC questions concerning the intergranular stress corrosion cracking (IGSCC) inspections performed during the Brunswick-1 Reload 4 outage. Question 3 requested that CP&L provide a summary of the mitigative actions taken on the susceptible weld population. We have identified an error in the number of welds classified as solution annealed versus the number of welds classified as non-mitigated. The following summary correctly specifies the mitigative actions performed on the remaining susceptible weld population at Brunswick-1.

IHSI and Overlayed 22 IHSI 57 Non-Mitigated 12 Total 110 Of the twelve unmitigated welds, seven are 4-inch weld-o-let joints, one is a 6-inch weld-o-let joint, two are 4-inch RWCU return line welds located outside containment, and two are 4-inch branch connections for decontamination ports. Table i provides a description of the 12 non-mitigated welds.
By letter dated August 16, 1985, CP&L submitted a table summarizing the susceptible weld population, including a description of mitigative actions applied, indications detected, and repairs. Enclosed are two replacement pages that provide the corrected information for the two additional non-mitigated welds.
The revisions have been indicated by change bars located in the right-hand margins.
