Component Cooling and Service Water Systems.

2.0 APPLICABILITY / SCOPE 1

l This procedure is applicable to the Plant Chemistry Unit.

This sampling and analysis program is applicable to the Component Cooling and Service Water System.

The procedure stipulates the s, .aillance frequencies, specifications, and corrective actions for each chemical parameter monitored. The radiochemical parameter surveillance frequencies, specifications, and corrective actions are provided in CP-224, Monitoring Radioactivity in Systems Normally Uncontaminated.

1. CP-102, GeneralInformation Records
2. CP-224, Monitoring Radioactivity In Systems Normally Uncontaminated C. Definitions
1. Action Level 1:

A value or range of values for a chemical or radiochemical parameter which:

a) is inconsistent with the goals of the Chemistry Section, b) indicates an adverse trend has developed, or c) indicates long-term impacts should be anticipated or expected.

2. Dissolved Copper:

The copper remaining in the filtrate after filtering through a 0.45 micron filter.

3. Dissolved Iron: EC-1 The iron remaining in the filtrate after filtering through a 0.45 micron filter.

4. Target:

The value or range of values for a chemical or radiochemical parameter which is a goal or a predetermined warning limit. A Target is not a specification.

4.0 PREREQUISITES A. Responsibilities

1. The Chemistry Technicians are responsible for; a) Sampling, analyzing, and documenting the results of the surveillance.

b) Performing corrective actions as required.

c) Notifying the Supervisor - Plant Chemistry, SPC, of any abnormal chemistry results or equipment conditions.

d) Performing and documenting the initial notifications of ACTION LEVEL 1 conditions.

2. The SPC is responsible for; a) Ensuring the surveillance frequencies and corrective actions are performed.

b) Ensuring that the General Supervisor - Chemistry, GSC, is notified of any ACTION LEVEL 1 condition.

c) Ensuring that the Shift Supervisor - Operations, SS, is notified of any ACTION LEVEL 1 condition.

6.0 PERFORMANCE A. Surveillance 1.

SAMPLE the Component Cooling Water System and the Service Water System AND ANALYZE for the parameters at the frequency specified on Attachment 1.

B. Specifications

1. COMPARE the surveillance results to the TARGET, and ACTION LEVEL 1 values.

C. Generic Corrective Actions

1. VERIFY all results and pertinent information is documented. I
2. IF a TARGETis exceeded, THEN:

a) NOTIFY the SPC.

b) DOCUMENT notifications, as directed by the SPC, in the appropriate record. '

c) IMPLEMENT corrective actions as directed by the SPC. i

3. IF an ACTION LEVEL 1 is exceeded, THEN:

a) RECORD the date and time the sample was collected as the " ACTION LEVEL 1 TIME OF INITIATION"in the appropriate record.

b) NOTIFY the SPC.

c) NOTIFY the SS, as directed by the SPC.

d) DOCUMENT notifications in the appropriate record.

e) RESAMPLE and ANALYZE the affected parameter as soon as practical, or as directed by the SPC, to verify entry into the ACTION LEVEL 1 condition.

i f) INCREASE surveillance frequency as directed by the SPC.

t g) PERFORM corrective actions as directed by the SPC.
