ARKANSAS NUCLEAR ONE, UNITS 1 AND 2 - WITHDRAWAL OF REQUEST FOR EXEMPTION FROM TITLE 10 OF THE CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS PART 50 APPENDIX B REQUIREMENTS TO SUPPORT APPLICATION OF ASME CODE CASE N-752 (EPID L-2020-LLE-0093)

Dear Sir or Madam:

By letter dated May 27, 2020 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML20148M344), Entergy Operations, Inc. (Entergy) submitted a request for an exemption from Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 50, Appendix B, Quality Assurance Criteria for Nuclear Power Plants and Fuel Reprocessing Plants, to support the use of an alternative to the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME),Section XI, requirements at Arkansas Nuclear One, Units 1 and 2 (ANO-1 and ANO-2, respectively).

Specifically, the request would allow use of the alternate requirements of ASME Code Case N-752, Risk-informed Categorization and Treatment for Replacement/Repair Activities in Class 2 and 3 Systems,Section XI, Division 1. By e-mail dated July 1, 2020 (ADAMS Accession No. ML20197A186), the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff requested supplemental information to complete its acceptance review of the exemption request.

Subsequently, by letter dated July 15, 2020 (ADAMS Accession No. ML20197A056), Entergy withdrew the exemption request.

The purpose of this letter is to advise you that the above application is being treated as withdrawn, the NRC staff has ceased the review of the exemption request, and no further action will be taken. The associated EPID will be closed.
