SUBJECT:
CLOSE0VT OF LONG-TERM FOLLOWUP ITEM 87-157 As per our discussion with George Knighton on June 23, 1988, I recommend closecut of EAB Long-Term Followup. Item 87-157 on Reactor Coolant Pumi Shaft Cracking at Palo Verde.
-Modified shafts have been installed in the. Unit I and Unit 2 RCPs during their respective first refueling outages. Modified shafts will be installed in Unit 3 RCPs during-the Spring 1989 first refueling outage.
Vibration monitoring programs are in place on all 3 units.
A report submitted iy the licensee on May 20, 1988, sumnarizes the results of the RCP Shaft Inspections on Units 1 and 2.
TAC Number 68248 covers review of this report.
