Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station Docket No. 50/395 Operating License No. NPF-12 NRC Bulletin 87-01 Gentlemen:
In a submittal dated September 1, 1987, South Carolina Electric & Gas Company (SCE&G) responded to NRC Bulletin 87-01, "Thinning of Pipe Walls in Nuclear Power Plants." On Attachment IV of that submittal, SCE&G indicated that inspections had identified one fitting which would require replacement during the fourth refueling outage based en its expected date for reaching minimum wall thickness. However, inspections completed during the current fourth refueling outage have shown that no thinning is occurring and subsequently no replacement is necessary. Data sheets from inspections which have been completed on this fitting will remain on file at the plant for your review.
