. SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT NOS. 50-327/88-47 AND 50-328/88-47

This refers to the special Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) heatup shif t

coverage inspection conducted by Ken Jenison from October 12-18, 1988. The

inspection included a review of the activities associated with the heatup

of Sequoyah Unit 1. At the conclusion of the inspection, the findings were '

discussed with those members of your staff identified in the enclosed inspec-

tion report. t

Areas examined during the inspection are identified in the report. These areas

included extended control room observation and operational safety verification.

Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examinations of

procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and

observation of activities in progress.

Within the scope of the inspection two issues were identified which are i

designated as Licensee Identified Violations for which no response is required.

Your attention is invited to the seven unresolved items identified in the

inspection report. These matters will be pursued during future inspections.

In accordance with Section 2.790 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," Part 2

Title 10, Code of Federal Reculations,'a co)y of this letter, its enclosures,
