PLANT IN MDIM 6 (FEFUELING OUTAEE.) - DURINE e SURVEY OF THE CtWFE.y CUL-in v LANDFILL WITH REGION 4 NRC INSPECTORS A3 A FOLLOWUP TO REPORI ABLE EVENT 010646, 4 TFASH BAG CONTAINING LOW LEVEL CONTAMINATION WA5 FOUND.

THE CONTAMINATION WAS LOCATED ON A 3 INCH X 3 'NCH SECTION OF A RAG USED TO WIPE DYE PENETRANT FOLLOWING A WELDING TEST.

RAD LEVEL IS 4000 DPM t< O. 41 MICROCURIES.

A HEALTH PHYSICS SURVEY FORM DATED 10/15/87 WAS FOUND INSIDE THE TRASH BAG WITH THE RAG AT THE LANDFILL.

RAG WILL BE RETURNED TO THE PLANT.

THE SURVEY OF THE LANDFILL WILL CONTINUE TOMORROW.

LICENSEE NOTIFIED STATE, LOCAL OFFICIALS & RI L WILL.SSUE A PRESS RELEASE.
