CALLAWAY - FIRST 10-YEAR INSERVICE TESTING PROGRAM, REV. 10 (TAC 67898)
By letters dated April 12 and May 5,1988, Union Electric Company submitted-for NRC staff review and approval tne proposed Revision 10 of the Inservice Testing (IST) Program for Callaway Nuclear Plant, Unit 1.
The submittal involved one added and two revised relief requests, a change of stroke time for twelve valves, I
and a change of sta of two valves from passive to active. The staff approved the Callaway IST 're
.m. Revision 9, in a Safety Evaluation dated October 26, 1987.
The staff has completed its review of the propased IST program changes as noted i
i above. Based on the review of your IST program revision and relief requests, the i
staff concludes that the IST program will provide reasonable assurance of the operational readiness of the pumps and valves covered by the IST program to per-l forn' their safety-related functions. All changes and/or relief requests in l
your April 12 and May 5,1988 updates are acceptable.
Based on our review, we have determined tha. che testing for which the relief has been requested ano approved is impractical to perform and that pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55a(g)(6)(1) the granting of this relief is authorized by law and will not endanger fe or property or the common defense and security and is other-wise in the.;iic interest.
In making this determination, we have given due considerati:
to the burden that would result if these requirements were imposed on your facilities.
