l On May S. 19PS, the NRC staff issued Bulletin C8 04, "Potential Saftty-Related l
Pus'p Loss." The tulletin requested licensees and permit holders to evaluate l
all safety-related purps for (1) pt.:s-to-purp interaction during miniflow l
operation that could result in dead 'eading of one or s. ore of the pua'ps, and l
(2) the adequacy of the minimum flow bypass lints with respect to darage resulting from operation and testing in the minirnum flow rede. Within (0 days of receipt Itcensees provide a written response that (a) surrartres the probles.s and the systees affected (b) identifies the short-term and long-tersi nodifications to pl,nt operating procedures or hardware that have been or are being trp1t'e+nted to ensure safe plant operations, (c) identifies an appropriate schedule for long-term resolution of this ard/or other significant problems that are identified as a result of this tulletin, and (d) provides justification for continued operation.
Fy letters dated July 13 and August b.190S, you responded to Bulletin EC-04 Your responses presided the infor1 ration requested in (a), (b), (c) and (d) above. You stated that all of the safety-related punps are considered adequately protected against the concerns stated in Eu11etin F8-04, and that ro short-tert er long-tein eodifications are needed.
