NARRATIVE

SUMMARY

f Month: May, 1988 McGuire Unit 2 began the month of May operating at 100% full power. The unit reduced power to 92% on 5/08, to help the Dispatcher meet minimum system load, then returned to 100% power at 1000 the same day. The unit then reduced power to 36% power from 1600 on 5/13 to 0245 on 5/16, again per Dispatcher's request.

The unit returned to 100% power at 1646 on 5/16, following a power hold at 90%

for Nuclear Instrumentation Calibration. The unit then reduced power to 71% per Dispatcher's request, at 5/25 at 2135. At 0929 on 5/26, the unit was further i

reduced in power to 50% due to end of core life Xenon restrictions. The unit was then remo.'ed from service at 0529 on 5/27 and finished the month of May in its end of cycle 4 refueling outage, i
