Attached is background information for an Enforcement Conference to be held in Region 1. DR$$ Conference Room at 11:00 a.m., July 29, 1988 with Shadyside l

Hospital.

The meeting will include a discussion of the violations identified i

during the inspection conducted on April 15, 1937 and a false statement made in a letter receiver $ by Region I on January 2,1936.

A synopsis of Ol's inves-tigation into this matter is enclosed. A patient with a nuclear pacemaker expirect on December 21, 1935.

The pacemaker (containing Pv-238) was subsequently i

disposed to the normal trash, an apparent violation of License No. SNM-1531.

Two other apparent violations of requirements associated with the pacemaker i

program were identified, in addition to the apparent material false statement.

A briefing is scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on July 28, 1958 in the DRSS Conference Room.
