FORT CALHOUN STAT 10h, OhlT 1 - TEMPORARY EXEMPTION FROM THE SCHEDULAR REQUIREMENTS OF THE PROPERTY 1hSURANCE RULE EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 4,1988 (10CFR60.54(w)(5)(1))

The Comission has issued the enclosed terporary exemption from the schedular requirenents of the property insurance rule effective October 4, 1988 (10 CFR 50.54(w)(5)(1)) for the Fort Calhoun Station Unit 1.

This part of the rule requires licensees to obtain insurance policies that prioritize insurance proceeds for stabilization and decontamination after an Lecident and provide for payrent of proceeds to an independent trustee who would disburse funds for decontamination and cleanup before any other purpose.

The Comission has proposed a revision of 10 CFR $0.54(w)(5)(1) extending ).

the implenentation schedule for 18 ronths (53 FR 36338, Septerber 19, 1968 Forever, because it is unlikely that this rulemaking action will be completed by October 4,1988, the Comission is issuing a temporary exemption from the requirenents of 10 CFR 50.54(w)(5)(1) until conpletion of :he extending the implerentation date specified in 10 CFR 50.54(w)pending ruleraking (5)(i),butnot later than April 1, 1989. Upon conpletion of such rulemaking, the licensee shall comply with the provisions of such rule.

The Comission, pursuant to 10 CFR 50.17(a), hereby grants a temporary exemption from the schedular requirerents of 10 CFR 50.54(w)(5)(1). This terporary exer > tion is valid until April 1, 1989 or until such tire as action on this rulera(ing is completed.
