TESTIMONY BEFORE THE SENATE SUBCOMMITTEE ON NUCLEAR REGULATIONS l
Enclosed for your inforination and the information of members of your staff is a copy of my testimony and that of Chairman Hendrie tafore i
the Senate Subcommittee on Nuclear Regulation held on October 13, 1977.
I call particular attention to my testimony which includes an extensive l
discussion of the procedures which the NRC is expected to follow in connection with keeping the licensing boards and Appeal Board informed l
of relevant new information received by members of the NRC staff. This matter is being brought to your attention to emphasize once again the importance the Coninission places on assuring that the boards are kept fully and currently informed to all new material and relevant infonnation.
During the coming weeks the present procedures of informing the boards will be subject to intensive reexamination by the Commission to determine whether they can be further improved.
If, as a result, the present pro-cedures warrant changing, this will be done and you will be promptly informed of such changes.
In the meantime, copies of this package should t
be provided to all members of your staff involved in the licensing process I
with a reminder of the need to pay strict attention to present procedures.
