Gentlemen:
This refers to the inspection conducted by Messrs. L. T. Ric.ketson and R. E.
Baer of this office during tne period August 22-26, 1988, of activities
authorized by NRC Operating Licenses DPR-51 and NPF-6 for Arkansas Nuclear One,
Units 1 and 2, anc' to the discussion of our findings with Mr. E. C. Ewing and
other members of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.
Areas examined during the inspection included portions of the radiation
protection program. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selective
examination of procedures and representative records, interv;ews with
personnel, and observations by the NRC inspectors,
ihe inspection findings are
documented in the enclosed inspection report.
During this inspection, it was found that one uf your activities appeared
to daviate from a commitment made to the NRC.
This item and commitment are
identified in the enclosed Notice of Deviation.
You are requested to respond
to this deviation in writing.
Your rdsponse should be basad on that specifics
contained in the Notice of Deviation enclosed with this letter.
We have also examined actions you have taken with regard to previously
identified inspection findings.
The status of these items is identified in
paragraph 2 of the enclosed report.
The response directed by this letter and the accompanying Notice is rot subject
to the clearance procedures of the Office of Management and Budget as required
by the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1980, PL 96-511.
