i NPF-6 Based on the results of an NRC inspection conducted on August 22-26 1988, a deviation of your Updated Safety Analysis Report (USAR) was identified.

The deviation consisted of organizational responsibilities not being properly defined.

In accordance with the "General Statement of Policy and Procedure for NRC Enforcement Actions " 10 CFR Part 2, Appendix C (1988), the deviation is

4 Organization and Responsibilities 1

Sections 12.1.2.1 for Unit 1 and 13.1.2.1 for Unit 2 USARs state that the i

health physics superintendent is responsible for radioactive waste group operation.

I In deviation from the above, the health physics superintendent is not responsible for radioactive waste operations.

The radioactive waste group is a separate line organization reporting to the manager of technical support.

l within 30 days of the date of the letter transmitting this Notice, a written

l statement or explanation in reply, including for each deviation:

(1) the reason for the deviation if admitted, (2) the corrective steps which have been i

taken and the results achieved, (3) the corrective steps which will be taken to l

avoid further deviations, and (4) the date when full compliance will be achieved.
