Gentlemen:
Subject: Combined Inspection No. 50-317/88-08 and 50-318/88-09
This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by Mr. Harold Gregg of
this office on April 4-8, 1988 at the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plants,
Units 1 and 2 in Lusby, Maryland of activities authorized by NRC License
Mr. H. Gregg discussed the inspection findings with
Mr. W. Lippold and other members of your staf' at the conclusion of the
inspection.
Areas examined during this inspection are described in the NRC Region I
Inspection Report which is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, the
inspection consisted of selective examinations of inservice testing procedures
and representative records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the
inspector.
Within the scope of this inspection no violations were identified. One item
that you are presently evaluating and that requires resolution was designated
as unresolved.
This pertained to a steam line check valve failure as described
in paragraph 6.0 of the enclosed report.
