Randazza President Nuclear Operations 83 Edison Drive Augusta, Maine 04336 Gentlemen: SUBJECT: EXAMINATION REPORT NO. 50-309/88-13(OL) During the week of August 8, 1988, the NRC administered examinations to employees of your company who had applied for licenses to operate the Maine Yankee Atomic Power Station. One Senior Reactor Operator and five Reactor Operator candidates passed the examinations and were issued licenses. The other Senior Reactor Operator candidate failed the simulator portion of the operating examination. The enc'fosed report provides the details of the examination. The writt6n ar.d simulator examinations were reviewed by your operations training staff prior to being administered. The examinations were reviewed for technical accuracy, applicability to the Maine Yankee facility, and assurance that the expected response was consistent with the question. Additionally, the written examination answer key was reviewed for technical accuracy. In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter and its enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
