Gentlemen:
This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by Mr. James Patterson
and others of this office on April 25-27, 1988, of activities at Clinton Power
Station, Unit 1, authorized by NRC Operating License No. NPF-55 and to the
discussion of our findings with you and others of your staff at the conclusion
of the inspection.
The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined during
the inspection. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective
examination of procedures and representative records, observations, and
interviews with personnel.

No violations of NRC requirements were identified during the course of this
inspection.
During a critique in Region III subsequent to the exit interview at the site,
observations were identified which we would like to share with you.
To
accomplish this, and to obtain your reviews of the exercise we will include
this item on the agenda for your next routine monthly meeting in Region III
on June 10, 1988.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of
this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the NRC
Public Document Room.
