Combined NRC Region I Inspection Report Nos. 50-334/88-23 and
50-412/88-18
This refers to the routine resident safety inspection by Messrs. J. Beall and
S. Pindale at the Beaver Valley Power Station in Shippingport, Pennsylvania.
The reporting period covers the time from July 16
August 31, 1988.
The
-
inspection consisted of document reviews, interviews and observation of activ-
ities.
The findings were summarized and discussed with you and other members
of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.
Based on the results of this inspection, it appears that activities associated
with adherence to administrative procedures regarding analyses of defects were
not conducted in compliance with NRC requirements.
Please respond to these
matters in accordance with the enclosed Appendix A.
Due to its potentially
generic nature, you are also requested to respond to the concerns regarding use
of aluminum cable in Class IE equipment discussed in Section 9 of the enclosed
report.
The responses directed by this letter and the accompanying Notice are not
subject to the clearance procedures of the Of fice of Management and Budget as
required by the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1980, PL 96-511.
