Inspection Report No. 50-289/88-07
During the period from March 6 to April 9, 1988, members of NRC Region 1 staff
conducted routine safety inspections at your facility. We documented the results
of that inspection in the enclosed report.
At the conclusion of the inspection
period on April 8,1988, Mr. D. Johnson of my staf f summarized the inspection
findings with you and other members of your staff.
No conditions adverse to nuclear safety / safeguards or regulatory requirements were
noted. We noted that your staff review of minor operational events that have oc-
curred recently has resulted in positive findings and corrective actions. A new
initiative in the Plant Materiel Assessment organization to accomplish in-depth
reviews of maintenance problems was noteworthy and should result in more complete
root cause analysis of maintenance-related problems. The NRC staff regards this
type of review and analysis to be an essential component of safe and reliable plant
operation.
This letter also acknowledges receipt of your letter dated June 18, 1987, in re-
sponse to a Notice of Violation concerning seismic mounting of environmentally-
qualified instrumentation. Your corrective actions were verified as noted in
paragraph 5.2.4 of this inspection report.
No response is required. Thank you for your cooperation in these matters.
