Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant-Retesting of Group IV 6perators 1
Thank you for your letter of May 16, 1930, responding to our letter of April 13, 1988 concerning the utilization of Group IV operators at your Browns Ferry Facility. We have reviewed the January 2,1986 Confirmation of Action Letter and all subsequent correspondence including your May 16, 1988 letter and conclude that the position described in our April 13, 1988 letter is correct.
We reiterate our position that all Group IV operators must pass an NRC administered requalification exam prior to performing licensed duties in the startup and rur modes.
We currently anticipate administering requalification examinations consistent with new NRC methodology, in order to evaluate your requalification program prior to restart.
At that time, we intend to additionally accommodate administration of requalification examinations for any Group IV operators you want evaluated for unrestricted license duties.
