PROBABILISTIC RISK ASSESSMENT FOR BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT (TAC NO. 63178)
By letter dated October 1,1987, we provided consnents to you on our limited scope review of the core damage accident analysis portion of the draft Browns ferry Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) submitted to us on November 20, 1986. Your initial response to this information, dated February 4, 1988, i
stated that our conenents wculd be incorporated in your review and revision of I
the Browns Ferry 9RA and that an updated version of the PRA would be transmitted to the NRC. However, a date for his transmittal was not given.
Your letter also stated your intention to submit an Individual Plant Examination (IPE) utilizing the IDCOR methodology (IPEM). This IFEM would be a
completed prior to Unit 2 restart. The staff is uncertain of whether either of your propose.1 actions in response to our October 1,1987 letter will be sufficient to address and resolve the identified restart issue.
Therefore, in order to support the timely resolution of this restart issue, we request a meet.ing with your staff. At this meeting, we will discuss our l
October 1,1937 letter, including the scope of the needed responses to Tables 1, 2 and 3 of that letter and the required schedule for these responses to support your Browns Ferry Unit 2 restart scheduie.
