NRC-INTEGRATED INSPECTION REPORT 50-413/98-08. 50-41 98-08 AND
. Dear Mr. Peterson.
On August 15, 1998. the NRC completed an inspection at your Catawba Nuclear
Station.
The enclosed report presents the results of that inspection.
During the six-week period covered by this inspection, your conduct of
activities at the Catawba Nuclear Station was generally characterized by
safety-conscious operations, as-well as adequate engineering, maintenance. .and

radiological controls. However.'a violation of NRC requirements was
identified and is cited in the enclosed Notice of Violation (Notice). The
violation involves the failure to establish adecuate surveillance procedures
to ensure that.affected trains of auxiliary feecwater system were declared

The NRC has concluded that information regarding the reason for the violation,
the corrective actions taken and planned to correct the violation and prevent

recurrence is already adequately addressed on the docket in the enclosed
inspection report.
