SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-361/98-15; 50-362/98-15
Dear Mr. Ray:
From August 24-28,1998, a physical security in.spection was conducted at your San Onofre
Nuclear Generating Station, Units 2 and 3 reactor facilities. The enclosed report presents the
scope and results of that inspection.
Overall, the inspector determined that your physical security program was effectively
implemented. A concern was identified regarding the failure of some zones during performance
testing of your detection systems. This issue is discussed in Section S2.2 of the enclosed
inspection report.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter, its
enclosure (s), and your response will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR).
