SUBJECT: NRC REVIEW 0F WASHINGTON NUCLEAR PROJECT NO. 3 (WNP-3)

READINESS REVIEW MODULE C3-02 CONCRETE - REPORT NO. 50-508/68-02

The NRC has completed a detailed review, inspection, and verification of the

subject rnedule which you submitted to the NRC on June 1,1967. Periodic

inspections were conducted at the WNP-3 site while the Hudule C3-02 activities

were in progress, and the resultant findings were discussed with members of

your staff at the conclusion of those inspections. Technical reviews were also

conducted in NRC Region V and Bethesda offices, and the findings from those

reviews have also been discussed with ycur staff in conjunction with the field

inspections. The NRC Inspection Reports which document the reviews are

identified in the enclosed report.

Areas contained in the module which were reviewed, examined, and verified are

identified in the enclosed report. Within these areas, the inspection

verification consisted of selected examinations of procedures and

representative records, discussions with personnel, observation of activities

in progress, examination of completed construction worF, and review of your

associated lice.7 sing comitaents.

The results of our reviews and inspections are sunnarized in the enclosed

report. Your attention is invited to those natters which will be pursued during

future licensing reviews and inspections. These ratters include:

1. Acceptable completion of deferred review segments;

2. Acceptable completion of planned engineering evaluations identified in the

Modul- C3-02 Open Items List;

3. Acceptance of FSAR change requests yet to be submitted to hRC;

4. Acceptable completion of corrective work identified in the Module C3-02

Open Items List;

5. Adecuate control of future construction activities that may affect the

ccepleted work; ,

6. Effectiveness of the preservation program for concrete structures;
