Randazza President 83 Edison Drive Augusta, Maine 04336 _ Genticmen: Subject: NRC Inspection Report No. 50-309/88-12 A routine radiological controls inspection was condileted by Mr. R. L. Nimitz at the Maine Yankee Power Station on July 18-22 1988. Areas reviewed during the inspection included action on previous NRC findings, organization and staffing, audits, corrective action systems, external and internal exposure controls, ALARA and contamination identified in the backyard areas. The findings of the inspection were discussed with you on July 22, 1988. No violations were idantified. However, the findings of the inspection indicate
weaknesses in the corrective action process for radiological controls deficiencies and in the area of contamination control. These are discussed in the enclosed report.
