Inspection Report No. 50-309/85-36
This transmits the December 14, 1985 - January 11, 1986 routine inspection findings
of Mr. C. Holden and Mr. J. Robertson at the Maine Yankee Atomic Power Plant, Wis-
casset, Maine. Those findings were based on observations of activities, interviews,
and document reviews, and have been discussed with Mr. Garrity of your staff.
Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were observed. Your actions
concerning the declaration of an Unusual Event during an iodine spike were conser-
vative and demonstrated your ability to implement the Emergency Plan. The fire
brigade demonstrated its ability to react to a plant fire and effectively deal with
it.
Although a personnel error resulted in a plant manual trip, the incident
appeared to reflect a human error and apparently not a training deficiency.
