'The.Model "G" series' source' assemblies are' designed for use in Source Production'and Equipment Company, Gamma-Indus~tries, and GulfsNuclear-exposure, devices, as shown in the. Limitations Section.

4 All source-capsules, except'the G-36, are fabricated from Type 304 or-~316 stainless steel with an end cap which is heliarc

-(TIG) welded.

The G-36 may be fabricated from_ Type 316 stainless steel or Type 7075 T-6Laluminum.

All Iridium-192 sources are

-singly. encapsulated while all Cobalt-60 sources are doubly encapsulated,.and the minimum wall thickness of the outer encapsulation'in each case, is.0.030".(0.76 mm).

Except for Models G-23, G-24, G-36, and G-38, the connector,. locking ball' l

andl source capsule are crimped to 1/8" (3.18 mm) diameter stainless steel-cable, and pigtail dimensional tolerances are maintained to i 1/16" (1.59 mm).

4 PROTOTYPE TESTING:

The "G"

series' source assembly consists of single or double encapsulation..

The' manufacturer" states that all prototype source encapsulations._ meet'or exceed the requirements for industrial radiography sources found in ANSI Publication N542-1977 and have been assigned a classifidation of ANSI.77C32515, except for Models G-23 and G-24, which have a classification of ANSI

.77C32212.

OUALITY ASSURANCE AND' CONTROL:

- Each pigtail assembly.is subjected to a 150:lb. (68.04 kg) pull-test prior to radioactive; material insertion and is subjected to a wipe teot after the material is sealed in the capsule.

If the results'of.the wipe tests are doubtful, then a hot water bubble test is performed.

No source will be shipped if removal contamination exceeds 0.005 microcurie (185 Bq).
