Role of Operators Following a HELB
REFERENCE:
NRC Letter, Heitner to Williams, dated 6/24/88 (G-88235)
Gentlemen:
l Per the referenced letter, additional information on the role of operators in mitigating high energy line breaks (HELB) at Fort St.
Vrain was requested of PSC.
Recently, a verbal notification was made to the NRC on 8/16/88 (followup will be per LER 88-12) which stated that PSC has discovered an error in the computer code which calculated the building temperature profiles for certain HELBs.
These profiles are currently being re-analyzed and PSC feels that the "revised" temperature profiles should be used to respond to the requested information.
Therefore, PSC is requesting an extension to respond to the referenced letter until the temperature profile issue is adequately complete.
PSC will plan on providing the ro uested additional information within 60 days following NRC's acceptance of the "revised" temperature profiles and resolution of the above mentioned profile issue.
