We have reviewed your submittals regarding an allegation which we received and forwarded to you by letter dated July 28, 1987, attached.
The allegation was that C&S Valve Company was using poor materials and poor manufacturing practices and supplied components to Corrrnonwealth Edison. Your attached responses dated October 22, 1987 and January 15, 1988, document the basis for your conclusior that no purchasing restrictions or corrective actions are necessary. We agree that your receipt inspection of purchases, operational data, functional tests or factory test data as well as the results of a routine quality assurance audit provides sufficient confidence that your safety-related purchases were in accordance with applicable specifications and are providing satisfactory service.
No violations of NRC requirements were ide.tified. We consider this allegation (RIII-87-A-0088) closed based on your response and the attached recent inspection conducted at C&S Valve Company by our Vendor Inspection Branch.
