This refers to the combined inspection conducted by A. Krasopoulos of this
office on March 14-18, 1988, at Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Station, Lusby,
Maryland, of activities authorized by NRC License Nos. OPR-53 and DPR-69 and to
the discussions of our findings held by A. Krasopoulos with R. P. Heibel of
your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.
Areas examined during this inspection are described in the NRC Region I
Inspection Report which is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, the
inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative
records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspector.
Based on the results of this inspection, it appears that some areas of your
Fire Protection Program, in particular, on site Fire Protection engineering
expertise, marginal housekeeping and combustible control conditions warrant
increased management attention.
These concerns were discussed with your staff
who agreed to investigate and address these matters.
A reply to this letter is not required.
