SUPPLEMENT TO SAFETY EVALUATION FOR GENERIC LETTER (GL) 83-28. ITEM 2.1 FOR JOSEPH M. FARLEY NUCLEAR PLANT UNITS, 1 AND 2 (TAC 65456/65457)

By letter dated May 8, 1987, as supplemented by letter dated August 12, 1988, you requested clarification and correction of the NRC Safety Evaluations dated December 15, 1986 and January 7, 1987. We have completed the review of your submittals relating to items 2.1(b) and 2.1.2(4), of GL 83-28. Our review findings are as follows:

1. Your prior reference to WCAP-8370 in Item 2.1.(b), relating to the Quality Assurance Program for the NSSS equipment should be corrected to be WCAP-9245. We agree that this is an administrative correction and is acceptable.

2. The requested change in verification of completed actions by individuals other than those originally specified in Item 2.1.2(4) is acceptable. However, you should assure that the verifying individual is cognizant of the work and any constraints and conditions that may apply to the specific item or job being verified.

In summary, we accept your proposed changes and modify our earlier Safety Evaluations, as noted above.
