Catawba Nuclear Station, Units 1 And 2 Docket Nos. 50-413 and 50-414 Amendments to the Pump and Valve Inservice Testing Program Gentlemen:
Pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55(a)(g) and SectiJ XI of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, please find attached for your review proposed Revision 15 to the Catawba Nuclear Station (CNS) Pump and Valve Inservice Testing (PVIT) manual and Revision 6 to the CNS Unit 2 PVIT manual. The proposed revisions are as follows:
I.
Nuclear Sampling System (NM) Unit i reverse check valves 1NM424 and 1NH425, and Component Cooling System (KC) Units 1 and 2 valves 1(2)KC279 have been added to the respective Unit 1 and Unit 2 CNS PVIT manuals. These valves were recently installed and require a Type C Leak Rate Test. Auxiliary Feedwater System (CA) Units 1 and 2 check valves 1(2)CA173 have been also added to the respective Units 1 and 2 CNS PVIT manuals along with relief requests Nos. A4 (Unit 1) and AS (Unit 2) following evaluation by Duke Power personnel.
II.
Unit i valves 1NM67 and 1NM68 were replaced by 1NM424 and 1NM425 and therefore deleted from the Unit 1 PVIT manual.
Additionally, Safety Injection System (NI) Units 1 and 2 valves 1(2)NI242B, 243A, 244B, 245A, 248, 249, 250, 251, 252, 253, 255B, 258A, 264B, 266A, 267A and i
336 were deleted with the Upper Head Injection System removal and were deleted from Units 1 and 2 PVIT manuals. All associated relief requests have also been deleted.
III.
Unit 1 Main Steam Vent to Atmosphere System (SV) valve 1SV19 stroke time (5 seconds) was missing due to a typographical error and has been added ta the Unit 1 PVIT manual.
IV.
Units 1 and 2 Nuclear Service Water System (RN) valves 1(2)RN232A and 292B stroke times have been reduced in the respective Units 1 and 2 PVIT manuals to agree with Technical Specification Table 3.3-5, Item j
13.d.
l V.
Units 1 and 2 manuals were revised to reflect a change in the station groups responsible for testing Units 1 and 2 Refueling Water System (FW) valves 1(2)FW28 and 1(2)FW56.

VI.
Units 1 and 2 manuals were revised to reflect a change in the station groups responsible for testing Units 1 and 2 CA system valves 1(2)CA37, 41, 45, 49, 53, 57, 61, and 65.
Additionally, relief request No. A1.
l alternate testing requirements were clarified.
VII.
The asterisks on pages II-B-2 and II-B-3 were de nted due to broad application of two notes on page II-B-3.

VIII.
Units 1 and 2 Residual Heat Removal (ND) system valve 1(2)ND28A stroke
' time has been reduced from 40 seconds to 10 seconds and relief request ~
No. F5 was added to test this valve during cold shutdown.
IX.
Relief request No. H22 has been added to test Units 1 and 2 NI system i
valves 1(2)NI332A and 1(2)NI33B during cold shutdown.
This proposal involves amendment requests to the CNS Units i ei.u 4 PVIT program.
Accordingly, pursuant to 10 CFR 170 a check for $150.00 is enclosed.
