r Dr. J. Nelson Grace July 8, 1988 Page 1 of 1 ENCLOSURE 1 RESPONSE TO NOTICE OF VIOLATION VIOLATION NUMBER 50-395/88-11-01 1.
ADMISSION OR DENIAL OF THE ALLEGE 0 VIOLATION South Carolina Electric & Gas Company (SCE&G) is in agreement with the alleged violation.
II.
REASON FOR THE VIOLATION The Nuclear Operations Department was reorganized in late January 1988, kt which time several personnel W re assigned new positions in the emergency response organization. Two of these individuals did not receive initial training prior to being assigned to their new positions.
III.
CORRECTIVE STEP TAKEN AND RESULTS ACHIEVE 3 The subject individuals recehed the required training during the week of May 9, 1988, and demonstrated an acceptable knowledge level.
IV.
CORRECTIVE ACTION TAKEN TO AVOID FURTHER VIOLATION Due to the large reorganization effort, it is considered that this failure to schedule the training was an isolated incident since the remaining key personnel had received the required training. The Energency Ser'. ices Coordinator (ESC) is assigned the responsibility to ensure that when Emergency Planning training is required (i.e.
reorganization, new employee, transfer of personnel, etc.), the designated personnel are scheduled for training, attend the j
session (s), and s6;cessfully complete the training.
V.
DATE OF FULL COMPLIANCE SCE&G was in full compliance with respect to the stated corrective i
action as of May 13, 1988.
