DOCKET N0s. 50-369-UNIT: McGuire 1 DATE: 07/15/88 NARRATIVE

SUMMARY

Month: June, 1988 McGuire Unit 1 began the month of June operating at 100% full power. .The unit reduced power to 86% on 5/12 to help tne Dispatcher meet minimum system load and returned to 100% at 0642 on 6/13. The unit experienced a reactor trip on.6/20 at 0006 when the power supply'to the control rods failed. The unit came on line-at 0622 on 6/21 and commenced load increase until 55% power when a problem with the "A" Feedwater. pump occurred. The unit was secured at 60% power while the pump was repaired and then increased load to 90% power for a power hold to calibrate Nuclear Instrumentation. The unit returned to 100% at 1330 on-6/22.

On 6/26 at 1205 the unit experienced a turbine / reactor runback due to loss of~

power to a motor control center. The problem was corrected and on its return to 100% full power, the unit held at 90% for Nuclear Instrumentation Calibration. l I

The unit then reached 100% power at 0327 '<nt 6/27 where it opecated for the 1 l

remainder of the month.  ;)
