SUMMARY

Month: February 1988 Catawba Unit 1 began the month of February operating at 98% power, limited in output by Reactor Coolant System Flow Technical Specification Limits.

At 1748-3 on 2/05, a shutdown was commenced due to the fnoperability of several safety related valves. The unit went off line at 0523 on 2/06, and returned to service on 2/07 at 1220. The unit held power at 60% for Nuclear Instrumentation Calibration, and reached 98% power at 0842 on 2/08. The unit then operated at 98% power for the remainder of the month, limited in output by Reactor Coolant System Flow Technical Specification Limits.

Personnel Exposure For the month of January,13 individuals exceeded 10 percent of their allowable annual radiation dose. limit with the highest dose being 1.460 rem, which represents approximately 12.2% of that person's allowable annual limit.

The total station liquid release for January has been compared with the-Technical Specifications maximum annual dose commitment and was less than 10 percent of this limit.
