DOCKET NOS. 50-445 AND 50-446 APPLICATION OF NON-QUALIFIED AGASTAT RELAYS SDAR:
CP-86-40 (FINAL REPORT)
Gentlemen:
On October 10, 1986, we notified you by our letter logged TXX-6017 of a deficiency involving the procurement and use of non-qualified Agastat relays in several Class 1E applications which we deemed reportable under the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e). Our most recent interim report was logged TXX-88242, dated February 19, 1988.
This final report is issued to status corrective actions taken to resolve this issue.
The following corrective actions have been completed:
1)
Vendor designed equipment drawings showing application of Agastat 7000 series timing relays have been reviewed and revised to show the use of pre-qualified ("E" prefixed) relays where necessary.
This will preclude repetition of the deficiency in future maintenance activities.

2)
The Nuclear Operations Defective items List (N0DIL) has been updated to preclude future procurement of non "E" prefixed relays for use in IE applications.
Future purchases of these relays will remain segregated
("E" prefix from non "E" prefix).
