CALLAWAY - MAIN STEAM LINE BREAK (MSLB) OUTSIDE CONTAINMENT WITH SUPERHEATED STEAM RELEASES The NRC staff has completed its review of your letters dated April 4,- 1986 March 24 and October 5,1987, and February 10, 1988 regarding the above subject.
Based on the review of the mass and energy release data, compartment temperature response analysis, component surface temperature analysis, and the failure modes and effects analysis, the staff finds your analyses acceptable. Therefore, the staff concurs with your conclusion that the safety-related equipment in the steani tunnel is qualified for the environmental conditions following a MSLB with superheated steam releases.
A copy of the related Safety Evaluation is enclosed.
