SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-458/97-11 AND NOTICE OF VIOLATION
Dear Mr. McGaha:
.
An NRC inspection was conducted June 23-27, 1997, at your River Bend Station reactor
~
facility. The enclosed report presents the scope and results of that inspection.
Areas examined during this inspection included portions of your_ physical security program
as identified in the report. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selective
examinations of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and
observation of activities in progress. Based on the results of this inspection, the NRC has
'
determined that one violation of NRC requirements occurred. The violation involved the
failure of the video capture system to have audible alarm capabilities.
The. violation is cited in the enclosed Notice of Violation (Notice) and the circumstances
surrounding this violation is described in detailin the enclosed report. Please note that you
are required to respond to this letter and should follow the instructions specified in the
enclosed Notice when preparing your response. The NRC will use your response, in part,
to determine whether further enforcement action is necessary to ensure compliance with
regulatory requirements.
-The material enclosed herewith contains Safeguards Information as defined by
10 CFR Part 73.21 and its disclosure to unauthorized individuals is prohibited by
Section 147 of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended. Therefore, the material will
