CORE SPRAY HEADER FLAW EVALUATION AT QUAD CITIES, UNIT 1 (TAC NO. M89707)
We have reviewed Commonwealth Edison Company's (Comed) submittals dated June 17 and July 14, 1994, regarding an evaluation of a crack, found during the current refueling outage, on the "B" cora spray header weld at Quad Cities, Unit 1.
Based on our review we have concluded that Quad Cities, Unit 1, can be safely operated during the next .el cycle (Cycle 14) with the existing crack in the "B" core spray header welo
'le understand that Comed will repair the subject weld by installing a mechanical clamp during the next refueling outage. We also understand that Comed is investigating the option of remote installation of the clamp in order to minimize personnel exposure.
The staff's safety evaluation is enclosed.
