SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT NO. 50-219/93-11 >
This letter transmits the report of the resident safety inspection conducted by Mr. D. Vito for
the period June 29,1993 through August 9,1993, at the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating-
Station The inspection consisted of document reviews, personnel interviews and
observations of activities. The inspectors discussed the findings with members of your staff
after the inspection. Inspector observations during this report period indicate that overall
plant operations were conducted safely.
Please note our discussion regarding the failure to implement corrective actions to ensure that
the design basis temperature for the vital switchgear rooms is not exceeded. While no
immediate equipment operability concerns were identified, our review concluded that you had ,
sufficient opportunity to correct the previously identified weaknesses before high outside j'
temperature conditions were experienced. The failure to implement corrective actions is a
violation of NRC requirements, as specified in the enclosed Notice of Violation. You are
required to respond to this letter and should follow the instructions specified in the enclosed
Notice when preparing your response.
