- 13. A. (1) Each scaled source containing licensed material, other than I;ydrogen 3, ulth a !
half-life greater than thirty days and la any form other than gas shall be ,
tested for leakage and/or contamination at intervals not to exceed six nonths. !
In the absence of a certificate frca a transferor indicatin3 that a test has l- ,
been uade within six irtonths prior to the trannfer, a sealed source received [ ,
froa another percon shall not be put into use until tested. !
{
(2) :.'otuithstanding the periodic leak test required by tnis condition, any licensed h scaled source is encapt froa such leak tests uhen the source contains 100 nicrocuries or less of beta and/or gaama emitting ruterial or 10 nicrocuries ! i or less of alpha cuitting natorial.
(3) The periodic leak test requirec by this conditiou does not apply to scaled soutces that are stored and not being used. The sources excepted frou this ,
test shall be tested for leaka;e prior to any use or trancfer to another person -
unless they have been leah tested within six months prior to the date of use or l
transfer. -
- 3. The test shall be capable of detecting the presence of 0.005 nicrocurie of ;
radioactive material on the test saaple. The test saaple shall be taken f roa _
the sealed source or froa the curfaces of the device in which the sealed source E r is percanently mounted or stored on which one tdght expect contauination to ,, ;
accunala te. Records of leak test results shall be kept in unita of nicrocuries ,
and caintained for inspection by the Coanission. -
C. If tne test reveals the presence of u.005 microcurie or uore of removable contaq-ination, the licensee shall in ediately withdrau the sealed source froa use and/ l shall cause it to be decontaminated and repaired or to be dssposed of in accord- , i cnce uith Comaission regulations. A report chall be filed within five (5) days .
