SEP 19 57E APPENDIX A NOTICE OF VIOLATION Babcock and Wilcox Company License No. S N M-1166 Based on the results of the NRC inspection conducted on August 14-17, 1978, it appears that certain of your activities were not conducted in full compliance with NRC requirements as indicated below. These items have been categorized as described in our correspondence to you dated Decemoer 31, 1974 License Condition No. 9 states that special nuclear materials are authorized for use in accordance with the statements, representations and conditions contained in Section V, Condi-tions, of the licensee's application. Subsection 5.2, Opera-tional Area Supervision, requires that operational area supervision are responsible for assuring that approved cont rol procedures developed with Health-Safety are available in writing to operators and other concerned personnel and are adhered to.

Contrary to the above, special nuclear material was stored in a hood in a manner which was not in accordance with posted instructions.

This is a deficiency.
