4 VIRGINIA ELECTRIC AND POWER COMPANY NORTH ANNA NUCLEAR POWER STATION UNIT NO. I 1987 ANNUAL STEAM GENERATOR INSERVICE INSPECTION REPORT EDDY CURRENT EXAMINATION During 1987 the steam generator tubes were examined twice.
The first examination was performed in May during a scheduled refueling outage.
Tubes in all three steam generators were examined during this outage.
The second examination was performed in July during the tube rupture outage.
Tubes in all three steam generators were examined during this outage.
The material that follows presents the results of the examinations.
These results include the number and extent of the tubes inspected, the location and percent of wall-thickness penetration for each indication of an imperfection, and the 1
identification of the tubes that were plugged. Also included are a "Tubesheet i
Cross Section Plot" (Figure 1) and "Tube Support Plate /Tubesheet Nomenclature" (Figure 2).

NORTH ANNA UNIT 1 PEFUELING.00TAGE - MAY 1987 STEAM GENERATOR "A" EXAMINATION
SUMMARY
In "A" Steam Generator there were 3262 tube examinations from the inlet side.
2526 tubes were examined to the seventh support plate on the inlet side, 226 tubes were examined to the seventh support plate on the outlet side, and 510 tubes were examined full length (tubesheet to tubesheet).
This is approximately 100 percent of the available tubes.
35 tubes were found to have discontinuity indications less than 20% through wall (%TWD).. 8 tubes were found to have discontinuity indications between 20% and 40% through wall
(%TWD).
25 tubes were found to have discontinuity indications greater than 40% through wall (%TWD).
A total of 83 tubes were plugged.
Refer to the table below for details.

SUMMARY
In "A"
Steam Generator, as a minimum, those areas of tubing not examined during the previous outage (April,1987). were examined during this outage.
The scope of the tube examinations during this outage.is described in Section VI.D.1 of the "North Anna Unit 1 July 15,1987 Steam Generator Tube Rupture Event Report," September 15, 1987, Revision 1, which was submitted by Virginia Electric and Power Company letter dated September 15, 1987 (Serial No.
87-474A).
15 tubes were found to have discontinuity indications less than 20%
through wall (%TWD). 7 tubes were _found to have discontinuity indications between 20% and 40% through wall (%TWD).
No tubes were found to have discontinuity indications greater than 40% through wall (%TWD).
A total of 105 tubes were plugged. Refer to the table below for details.

E NORTH ANNA UNIT 1 TUBE-RUPTURE OUTAGE - JULY 1987 STEAM GENERATOR "C" EXAMINATION
SUMMARY
In "C" Steam Generator, as a minimum, those areas of tubing not examined during the previous outage (April, 1987) were exarained during this outage.
The scope of the tube examinations during the outage is described in Section VI.D.1 of the "North Anna Unit 1 July 15,1987 Steam Generator Tube Rupture Event Report," September 15, 1987, Revision 1, which was submitted by Virginia Electric and Power Company letter dated September 15, 1987 (Serial No.
87-474A).
22 tubes were found to have discontinuity indications less than 20%
through wall (%TWD). 30 tubes were found'to have discontinuity indications
- between 20% and 40% through wall. (%TWD).
7 tubes were found to have l
discontinuity indications greater tha,n 40% through wall (%TWD).
A total of 109 tubes were plugged. Refer to the table below for details.
