Dear Mr. Hampton:
This is in reply to your letter dated November 27, 1978 that addressed 1
cold examinations for applicants for licensees for the Catawba Nuclear Station.

Your letter indicated that there would be forty-three (43) applicants.
Further, your letter requested that we administer two sets of written examinations about fifteen weeks apart, with the latter just prior to j
hot functional testing and administer the operating tests about three weeks prior to fuel loading. A review of the schedule attached to your letter indicates that the first set of written examinations would be administered six months prior to fuel loading and the second set three months prior to fuel loading.
I We consider it premature to discuss the details of the cold examination schedule for Catawba Nuclear Station at this time since the application for an operating license has not been received.
For your information, our normal procedure for scheduling examinations is described below.
Approximately six months prior to fuel loading, one set of written examinations are scheduled for two months before g
fuel loading and the operating test three weeks before fuel i
loading. Once the dates have been agreed upon, we do not reschedule the written examination unless there is a sub-l stantial change in the fuel loading date.
However, the 5
operating tests dates will be adjusted if the fuel loading date changes to remain approximately three weeks prior to fuel loading.
