1.0 INTRODUCTION

The following constitutes Part l I of the final report for the 2019 Radiological Monitoring Program conducted at the Kewaunee Power Station (KPS), Kewaunee, Wisconsin.

Included are tabulations of data for all samples collected in 2019 along with graphs of data trends. A summary and interpretation of the data presented here are published in Part I of the 2019 Annual Report on the Radiological Monitoring Program for the Kewaunee Power Station.

2.0 GRAPHS OF DATA TRENDS Note: Conventions used in trending data.

The following conventions should be used in the interpretation of the graphs of data trends:

1. Both solid and open data points may be used in the graphs. A solid point indicates an activity, an open point, a lower limit of detection (LLD) value.
2. Data points are connected by a solid line. A break in the plot indicates missing data.

2. Radiation Protection Dan J Shannon (Dom Energy Kewaunee, Inc - 4)

No Environmental air sampler {#6735) at location K-lf was found off due to a sample pump blown fuse

 • The air sampler had operated for 109.18 hours2.083333e-4 days
0.005 hours
2.97619e-5 weeks
6.849e-6 months
prior to the fuse blowing. The air sample filter was changed out and and will be sent to the vendor for analysis with a reduced sample volume for the sample week ending 4/23/19. Since this is the second consecutive week that the air sample pump at K-lf experienced a blown fuse (CR#l880), the air sampler (#6735) was removed from service and replaced with air sampler #6731 on 4/22/19. Noted the event and CR number on the environmental sample collection sheet for the week ending 4/23/19. K-lf air sample collection for the week ending 4-30-19 will have a larger volume due to approximately 1 day extra run time (4/22/19 to 4/30/19).

Informed RPCM. Recorded sample run time on environmental sample collection data sheet for week ending 4/23/19, removed sample pump #6735 for trouble shooting and replaced It with sample pump

N/A No While reviewing the January* March 2019 Radiological Environmental Monitoring Program (REMP) monthly progress report from ATI*

Environmental, it was noted that the Location K*1d (condenser discharge) monthly surface water sample was not taken due to frozen conditions. In accordance with REMM Table 2.2.1-A, Radiological Environmental Monitoring Program, Table Notation b, "Deviations from the required sampling schedule will occur If specimens are unobtainable due to hazardous conditions, seasonal unavailability, malfunction of automatic sampling equipment, and other legitimate reasons." In this case the sample was unobtainable due to both hazardous weather conditions and seasonal unavailability (lake was frozen). There have been no discharges of radioactive liquid effluents since the first week of August, 2018. With the implementation of REMM Revision 22 on April 1, 2019, the required frequency for surface water sampling at K-ld and other locations has been reduced from monthly to quarterly.

Initiated CR to document missed surface water sample at location K-ld (condenser discharge)

No On June 11, 2019 at 0750, during weekly environmental air sample filter change out, the K-2 (WPS building) sampler was found off due to a blown fuse on the power switch. The sample had accumulated for 96.17 hours1.967593e-4 days
0.00472 hours
2.810847e-5 weeks
6.4685e-6 months
No At approximately 0800 on 7/9/2019 the K-8 environmental air sample pump was found In a degraded condition during the weekly filter change out. The pump sounded as if it was failing and the flow indicator was not indicating normal flow of 30 LPM. When the pump was turned off It did not immediately stop as is normal. Rather it slowly coasted to a stop.

Turned pump off.. Restarted pump and did not see any improvement Turned pump off again

 • Changed out filter
 • Contacted system expert and informed of issue.

Noted issue on sample collection data sheet.

Recommended using a conservative sample flow rate of 15 LPM due to pump fallfng and flow indication less than normal

 • Repair or replace pump. This is currently in progress.

Create CA to include this CR in the 2019 Annual Environmental Report.
