, MONTHLY NARRATIVE REPORT 0F OPERATION AND MAJOR MAINTENANCE EXPERIENCE This report describes the operating and major maintenance experience for the month of October,1985. This narrative report was prepared by the plant staff and is submitted in accordance with Section 6.9.1.7 of the Units 1 and 2 Technical Specifications.

On October 7, 1985 Reactor Coolant Pump 2-4 rewind complete On October 14, 1985 Unit I reduced power to clean waterbox On October 16, 1985 Received a Level V Notice of Violation as part of NRC Inspection Reports 50-275/85-32 and 50-323/85-29 involving an unauthorized entry into a class 1 material storage area On October 20,1985 Unit 2 on power grid for first time (initial electricity)

On October 21,1985 Unit 2 separated from grid for generator testing On October 22,1985 Unit 2 was paralleled to the grid On October 22,1985 Unit 2 experienced a reactor trip On October 23, 1985 Unit 2 was paralleled to the grid On October 24,1985 Unit 2 experienced a reactor trip On October 25, 1985 Unit 2 paralleled to the grid On October 25,1985 Unit 1 experienced a reactor trip On October 26, 1985 Unit I was paralleled to the grid On October 28, 1985 Unit I reduced power for maintenance On October 30,1985 Unit 1 off grid for maintenance On October 31, 1985 Unit 2 experienced a turbine trip Unit 1 operated this month with a unit availability factor of 91.3% and a unit capacity factor of 84%. At the start of the month, Unit 2 was in cold shutdown to repair Reactor Coolant Pump 2-4 for the first week of October. On October 8, startup testing was resumed.

There were no major safety related maintenance activities performed for Unit 1 or Unit 2 in the month of October,1985. Reactor Coolant Pump 2-4 was rewound and vacuum pressure impregnated.

No challenges to the PORVs or Steam Generator Safety Valves have been made.

No changes have been made in the Environmental Radiological Monitoring procedure, the Offsite Dose Calculation procedure, or in m radioactive waste treatment system.

This event was caused by a personnel error.

To prevent recurrence, applicable operating procedures are being revised to include guidelines for the operation of condensate booster pumps during unusual plant conditions or testing affecting the condensate or feedwater systems.
