APPENDIX B NOTICE OF DEVIATION Gulf States Utilities Company Docket: 50-458/86-01 River Bend Station License: NPF-40 Based on the results of an NRC inspection conducted during the period of January 27-31, 1986, it appears that one of your activities was not conducted in conformance with your commitments to the commission. Based on the results of the inspection and in accordance with the " General Statement of Policy and Procedure for NRC Enforcement Actions," 10 CFR Part 2, Appendix C (1985),

following deviation was identified.

Failure To Maintain Emergency Response Equipment The Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR) for the River Bend Station, Section 13.3, Appendix E, " River Bend Station Emergency Equipment Lists,"

establish emergency response equipment and supplies required to be maintained at specific emergency facilities.

In deviation from the above, the NRC inspector determined on January 28, 1986, that the licensee was not maintaining the equipment and supplies committed to in the FSAR for the main control room, operations support center, and emergency operations facility. (458/8601-01)

Gulf States Utilities Company is hereby requested to submit to this office, within 30 days of the date of the letter transmitting this Notice of Deviation, a written statement or explanation in reply, including: (1) the reason for the deviation if admitted, (2) the corrective steps which have been taken and the results achieved, (3) the corrective steps which will be taken to avoid further deviations, and (4) the date when full compliance will be achieved. Considera-tion may be given to extending your response time for good cause shown.
