On September 8,1983, Roger Fortuna, Deputy Director, 01, came to,my office to advise me of a telephone conversation he had that date with Ms. Billie Pirner Garde, Government Accountability Project (GAP), Institute for Policy Studies.
Fortuna described information related by Garde relative to subject captioned investigation advising that the GAP report on the same subject is ready to be written. Garde reportedly advised, in her conversation with Fortuna, that George Maxwell, former Senior Resident Ir.spector, Catawba NPS, had been contacted by Duke Power und Light; Company (licensee) personnel regarding

concerns at Catawba. Garde contents that the information which was provided to
/
Maxwell was referred to Duke which compromised the identity of the individual (s) who had approached Maxwell.
Garde explained to.Fortuna that she learned this informnion from a deposition
/
which was obtained from Mr. Larry Davidson, Duke QA Supervisor at Catawba.

. Reportedly, during recent Hearings which were held by the Palmetto Alliance, this testimony was provided by Davidson.
I inforced Fortuna that I was aware of the recent Hearings which had been held by Palmetto, circa late May early June 1983. In addition, I informed him that Maxwell is no longer the SRI at Catawba, but is currently asrigned as the SRI at Shearon Harris NPS, Raleigh, North Carolina. Fortuna relatedly that he was merely relating a conversation with Garde for whatever, action 01A may deem appropriate.
