POST OFFICE box 128, FT. MERCE, Fi On DA 33454 Trng Ltr Bk #85-120 FLORIDA POWER & LIGHT COMPANY December 18, 1985 Mr. Bruce A. Wilson, Chief Operator Licensing Section Division of Reactor Safety 101 Marietta Street, N.W.

Subject:

NRC Examination Cc:nments

Dear Mr. Wilson:

The written exams adminis'tered on December 16, 1985, had a significant number of " completion test" items (fill in the blank).

The structure of the questions was generically poor.

There should be only one blank per item with the blank at the end of the item.

Statements taken directly from texts should be avoided; statements taken out of context are often ambiguous.

It is difficult to construct completion items that have only one correct answer and are unambiguous.1 SENIOR REACTOR OPERATOR WRITTEN EXAMINATION C0lGENTS s '
